EARLY LIFE & MUSICAL ROOTS
Paul Davis began his musical journey in Staffordshire, before making a life-changing move to London in the mid-80s to pursue his dreams as a bassist. Immersed in the capital’s vibrant scene, he cut his teeth in gritty clubs and smoky bars, grounding his playing in the soulful traditions of blues, soul and Americana. Those formative years forged not only his distinctive style and feel, but also a deep respect for the craft of live performance that still drives him today.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS & MUSICAL JOURNEY
As his reputation grew, Paul expanded his musical palette by embracing the double bass, dedicating countless hours to mastering its rich, resonant tone. His versatility soon saw him in demand with acts such as The Red Jumps, Gentlemen Tim & The Contenders and The Crooked Cranes, performing everywhere from UK and European festivals to intimate bars, clubs, corporate events and weddings. Along the way he crossed paths with blues legend Bob Brunning, original bassist for Fleetwood Mac, whose legacy and mentorship left a lasting imprint on Paul’s musical outlook.
INFLUENCE & CURRENT ROLE
After 37 years in London, Paul returned to his Midlands roots in 2022, just as Fleetwood Mad were searching for the final piece of their rhythm section. The timing was perfect: joining the band allowed Paul to channel the spirit of John McVie, bringing his deep understanding of Fleetwood Mac’s iconic bass lines to the stage. Today, his driving grooves and dynamic presence form the backbone of Fleetwood Mad’s sound, keeping the timeless rhythms of Fleetwood Mac alive for audiences of all ages at every show.
